Marah in the Mainsail, Ode, Distant Brothers at Martyrs'

"Marah in the Mainsail is performing at Martyrs' with Ode and Distant Brothers!

Cinematic is the word most often used to describe Marah in the Mainsail's sound. Precise yet primitive jungle drums set the stage for the eclectic and powerful ensemble to sweep you away into their haunting world.

Ode is a five piece group made out of sticks, strings and memories that stare at them from the past, like sling shots, drawn back, ready to let go any time something goes wrong. But they stick together, bass or no bass, rent or no rent, slowly but surely they are mistaken for a gypsy ensemble that plays rock'n'roll- punk and Bolero ballads.

With a dynamic blend of folk, rock, bluegrass and world music Distant Brothers brings a unique sound to any project they take on. Their most recent album, Upon Our Arrival, typifies this diversity while showcasing myriad styles and instruments. The bedrock of the band's sound is their ability to join their four distinct voices into rich harmonies. Whether playing barn-burning bluegrass music to a raucous crowd or delicate soul stirring ballads to intimate audiences, Distant Brothers' goal is and always has been to bring people together with their music."
